Mute Math claims to have sold about 10,000 copies of its debut CD in one. It debuted at number 24 on the US Billboard 200, and at number 70 in Canada. Mute Math was formed by Meany, formerly of the unabashedly Christian act Earthsuit. The bands website announced that the suit was settled out of court, concurrent with the signing of an improved deal with Warner Bros. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 80, based on 5 reviews, with many reviewers praising the band's new blues-influenced sound. MUTEMATH and Teleprompt filed suit against the major label, claiming breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation. Odd Soul received generally positive reviews upon its release. The New Orleans alt rockers are now recording for their own label, in part to keep the album from being marketed primarily to the Christian rock crowd. The band played Odd Soul album in its entirety, as well as some tracks from previous albums.
